Doctors stage another demo over poor conditions

Senior doctors at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in Harare have staged a demonstration over poor working conditions.

In a statement, the doctors said they will scale down their services and will only attend to dire emergencies until the situation normalises.

The placard waving doctors picketed outside the hospital decrying the inadequate medicines and sundries at state hospitals.

“Please let us take care of our patients, we love our patients,” reads some of the placards.

“The shortages are too much all we need are gloves, needles, painkillers and stop cancelling our operating list.”

The doctors demanded the hospital to stop cancelling the operation lists.

The senior doctors cited that they are not on strike but they are frustrated with working conditions.

This is despite the donation handed by Botswana president Mokgweetsi Masisi at the end of the inaugural Bi-National Commission session between Zimbabwe and Botswana in Harare.

Botswana donated a consignment of medical supplies worth 2.1 million Pula. The medicinal consignment included syringes, surgical supplies and abdominal swabs.
