Gun totting Zanu PF member in court
A ZANU-PF member has been arrested for allegedly pointing a gun at a National Blood Services of Zimbabwe employee after the two were involved in an altercation following a road traffic incident.
A court heard Davis Tawedzera Muhambi (37), allegedly pointed a gun at National Blood Services spokesperson Sfundo Ngwenya following a road altercation at the Nguboyenja traffic light section near Mzilikazi garage.
Muhambi was summoned to Western Commonage court, Friday, facing a charge of pointing a firearm.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Western Commonage magistrate Lungile Ncube remanded Muhambi out of custody to March 21.
State representative, Kenneth Shava told the court that on January 20 at about 12 midday Muhambi almost drove into Sfundo Ngwenya’s car at the Nguboyenja traffic lights near Mzilikazi service station.
“Ngwenya was driving a white Nissan Double Cab registration number ABI 0950. Muhambi was driving a Mercedes Benz registration plate ED PFEE. Muhambi came speeding along Ngcebetsha road from the direction of Mzilikazi and turned into Luveve road,” said Shava.
“The two vehicles nearly had a collision resulting in Ngwenya and Muhambi exchanging harsh words. They continued with their verbal brawl as they drove side by side. Muhambi produced a pistol and pointed it at Ngwenya.”
Shava said after pointing the gun Muhambi subsequently sped off leaving Ngwenya behind.
He said .45Sig Sauer pistol serial number 54A023969 was recovered from Muhambi and can be produced in court as an exhibit.
