Zim Community in SA receives food vouchers

Bosso legend, Alexander ‘Cool Ruler’ Maseko with Action Support Centre in conjunction with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the City of Johannesburg donated food vouchers worth ZAR 600 each last Friday to 50 members of the Zimbabwe Communality in South Africa.

The donation was part of measures to cushion Zimbabwean nationals domiciled south of the Limpopo against the devastating effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The programme will continue this Wednesday at the Hillbrow Brethren in Christ Church to cover another batch of 50 not catered for last week.

Ousie Maria and Bruk represented IOM while Sis Pretty and Alexander Maseko represented Action Support Centre.

“We’d like to express our gratitude on behalf of the Zimbabwean Community in South Africa, whose livelihoods have been disrupted by lockdown regulations because of the covid-19 pandemic,” said the association’s spokesperson, Bongani Mazwi Mkwananzi.

“We thank the IOM and Action Support Centre as well as the City of Johannesburg for coming out to our aid. IOM in particular gave out the food vouchers as organised by the Action Support Centre in collaboration with the Bosso legends who were represented by the Cool Ruler, Alexander Maseko. We are grateful to the city of Johannesburg for giving out information on what the city does to assist migrants and urge our people to utilise these facilities.”

Mkwananzi said they were observing lockdown hence beneficiaries come in groups of 50.
