Zim records 14 more Covid-19 deaths

Fourteen more people succumbed to Covid-19 yesterday while 135 tested positive for the Covid-19 virus, the daily report from the Ministry of Health and Child Care indicated.

The highest number of deaths were recorded in Harare and Manicaland with each province recording four deaths each.

Bulawayo and Midlands both recorded two Covid-19 deaths each while Mashonaland East and Matabeleland North both recorded one case each.

“135 new cases (all local) and 14 deaths reported today (7 day rolling average for new cases rises slightly to 147 today from 146 yesterdays,” said the Ministry of Health and Child Care.

In terms of new cases, the highest cases were recorded in Manicaland which had 32 cases followed by Masvingo which had 30 new cases.

Mashonaland East recorded 23 new Covid-19, Harare recorded 21 new cases, Bulawayo reported 12 new cases, Matabeleland South reported nine new cases, Mashonaland West reported four new cases, Midlands reported two new cases while Mashonaland Central and Matabeleland North reported one new case each.

The Ministry of Health and Child Care added that 31 422 people received their first dose yesterday bringing the cumulative for the first dose to 2 782 103 while 27 711 received their second dose bringing the cumulative for the second dose to 1 770 352.

The Ministry also said as of 7 September 2021, there were 153 hospitalised cases, 10 new admissions, 29 asymptomatic, 73 mild to moderate, 48 severe and three in Intensive Care Units.

Of the 6 492 tests done yesterday, positivity was 2.1 percent, “366 new recoveries: National recovery rate stands at 93 percent and active cases go down to 3 592.”

“As of 08 September 2021, Zimbabwe has recorded 125 931 cases, 117 822 recoveries and 4 517 deaths,” said the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
