In today’s bulletin, Zimbabwe is bracing for a dry and erratic 2026/27 rainfall season, with the government warning that a strong El Niño could result in below-normal rainfall, prolonged dry spells and warmer-than-usual temperatures. Babies born to mothers with anaemia may have smaller brains, particularly in regions involved in movement, learning and emotional regulation, according to a study by researchers from King’s College London and the University of Cape Town.
