A Victoria Falls woman, allegedly murdered her 26-year-old live-in boyfriend on Sunday night after he delayed to open the door for her.
Matabeleland North police spokesperson Chief Inspector Siphiwe Makonese confirmed the death of Vein Mohamed of Mkhosana Township.
The accused has been identified as 31-year-old Sithandazile Sibanda of the same suburb.
Makonese said the two lovers’ argument started at around 9 PM when Vain delayed opening the door when Sibanda returned home from a beer binge.
“According to their landlady, Makhosi Mkandla, the accused became furious and started arguing with the deceased from their rented room,” said Chief Inspector Makonese.
“They continued to argue until the deceased tried to walk away attempting to leave the house. He was pleading for peace but the accused followed him carrying a metal object threatening to assault him.”
Police said the accused then dragged her boyfriend back to their room and picked a knife which she used to stab Vain on the back of the neck.
Out of rage, Ndlovu then went to the landlord and threatened to kill him as well for trying to interfere in their heated arguement.
“The landlord who is a police witness reported that he managed to disarm the accused and entered the room that the deceased was lying and found him a pool of blood. He tried to render first aid after calling Victoria Falls Municipality health officials to assist but he was later confirmed dead.”
Makonese said the accused is currently being held at Victoria Falls police station and is expected to appear in court soon.
The deceased was taken to Victoria Falls hospital mortuary, pending a post mortem.
Police urged residents to desist from domestic violence and seek counselling from community and church elders if they find themselves in a misunderstanding.
