Suspected Zim armed robbers killed in shootout with Botswana police

THREE suspected armed robbers from Zimbabwe were fatally shot in a gunfire exchange with members of the Botswana Police service in Gaborone on Thursday morning.

In a press statement, Botswana Police Service Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner Dipheko Motube said the deceased trio were intercepted by the police whilst committing a robbery at one of the homesteads in Block six.

“Three suspected armed robbers were fatally shot in an exchange of fire with members of Botswana Police Service early this morning (24/06/2021) in Block 6 location in Gaborone,” said Assistant Commissioner Motube.

“A firearm suspected to have been used by the suspects, all suspected to be Zimbabwean citizen males, was found at the scene.”

He said members of the public are requested to assist with any information that could lead to the arrest of two other suspects who fled the scene during the incident.

“Police investigations into the matter are ongoing,” said Assistant Commissioner Motube.
