Suspected Zim armed robbers killed in shootout with Botswana police

THREE suspected armed robbers from Zimbabwe were fatally shot in a gunfire exchange with members of the Botswana Police serviceย in Gaborone on Thursday morning.

In a press statement, Botswana Police Service Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner Dipheko Motube said the deceased trio were intercepted by the police whilst committing a robbery at one of the homesteads in Block six.

โ€œThree suspected armed robbers were fatally shot in an exchange of fire with members of Botswana Police Service early this morning (24/06/2021) in Block 6 location in Gaborone,โ€ said Assistant Commissioner Motube.

โ€œA firearm suspected to have been used by the suspects, all suspected to be Zimbabwean citizen males, was found at the scene.โ€

He said members of the public are requested to assist with any information that could lead to the arrest of two other suspects who fled the scene during the incident.

โ€œPolice investigations into the matter are ongoing,โ€ said Assistant Commissioner Motube.
