Sandra Ndebele turns on charm for ward 20 vote

For years, Sandra Ndebele has had revellers spellbound by her stage antics and music.

Now, the musician who wants to dance her way into the Bulawayo Council Chambers on a Zanu PF ticket is hoping to use the same charm, that has kept her high on the music charts, on the electorate come election time.

On Saturday, Ndebele who is vying for the Ward 20 council seat, organised a family fun day which included a sports tournament and music show to launch her political bid.

A sizeable crowd made up of both the young and old graced the occasion.

The young and the old graced the event.

Addressing the crowd, Ndebele appealed to the electorate to vote for her.

“I am from this ward, no one will come from areas to develop this ward, we will have to do it on our own,” she said.

In a bid to lure the youth vote, Ndebele launched a rabbit-keeping project which was preceded by a two-day training targeting 50 youths from the ward.

“There were youths who underwent the rabbit-keeping training project. Someone has already donated some rabbits to kickstart the project,” she said.

“One rabbit costs US$10 but you can sell it for up to US$100.”

Ndebele also donated stationery to school-going children who took part in the sports tournament.

“There were school-going children who were playing soccer, they were 90. I bought books for them, I want to do visible things not just promises, I bought 300 books and they will each get four books,” she said.

She also donated four goats to the winning football and netball teams.

Some of the women who took part in the netball tournament also received kitchenware.
