Nitefreak teams up with Dr Feel on Afro House project

Bulawayo-born Afro House DJ and producer Nitefreak has teamed up with Zimbabwean DJ and producer Dr Feel on a new collaboration titled BYO 2 Luanda, featuring on a compilation celebrating Zimbabwe’s contribution to the global Afro House movement.

The track will feature on Inner Visions, a compilation bringing together Zimbabwean producers, DJs and vocalists. The project, released through South African label Mansa Musa, is scheduled to drop on November 27, 2026.

Nitefreak, born Bhekinkosi Melusi Mabhena, is among Zimbabwe’s most internationally recognised electronic music artists, with performances at major venues and festivals across Europe, North America, South America and Asia.

He has gained international recognition through tracks such as Gorah and his remix of Premier Gaou, both of which have surpassed 100 million Spotify streams.

His remix of the Magic System classic, produced in collaboration with Francis Mercier, has also achieved Platinum certification in France.

The collaboration with Dr Feel brings together two Zimbabwean artists whose work connects the country’s electronic music scene with international audiences.

The compilation features a wider group of Zimbabwean producers and DJs, including DJ Stavo, DJ MidTempo, Ryan Synth, MIčI, Reverb, TAPIWA and Simbai, among others.

Kenyan singer Victoria Kimani also features on the project, contributing vocals and songwriting to Joy, alongside Dr Feel and DJ Stavo.

The release comes amid growing international interest in Afro House, a genre rooted in African musical traditions that has gained increasing popularity at international clubs and festivals.

According to Splice and MIDiA Research’s Sounds of 2026 report, Afro House downloads on music-production platform Splice increased from approximately 760,355 in 2024 to 6.67 million in 2025.

Nitefreak has also built platforms to promote African electronic music, including HiNDE, launched in Zimbabwe in 2021 and subsequently expanded to cities such as New York, Miami and Mauritius.

Inner Visions is expected to spotlight Zimbabwean talent and strengthen the country’s visibility in the expanding international Afro House industry.
