Mat South recommends hero status for Jane Ngwenya

Minister of State for Matabeleland South Province Abednico Ncube says they will request the government to declare the late veteran nationalist Jane Ngwenya a national heroine.

Ngwenya (86) passed on at Mater Dei Hospital on Thursday.

In an interview with CITE, Ncube said Ngwenya contributed immensely to the country’s liberation.

“As Matabeleland South, we have lost, Jane Ngwenya is one of the people who participated in the liberation of our country, Zimbabwe,” said Ncube.

We are saddened by her passing, he added.

Ncube described Ngwenya as a dedicated member of the ruling party, Zanu PF, after independence.

He added that they will make a recommendation that she is declared a national heroine.

Minister of State for Bulawayo provincial affairs, Judith Ncube the city had been plunged into mourning following Ngwenya’s mourning.

“We are really saddened as a city on the passing on of umama uJane Ngwenya especially considering her contribution to the country’s liberation,” said Ncube.
