Eight alleged robbers remanded to February

…stole U$10 000 from a motorist

Eight alleged robbers from Bulawayo, who are suspected to have robbed a motorist of US$10 000 have been remanded to February 12 for trial.

The eight, who are currently out of custody on ZWL$500 bail each, had their matter postponed after all the State witnesses were in no show at court.

They appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Shepherd Mnjanja.

The court heard upon commission of offense, the eight blocked Jefrey Nyevhe’s vehicle and after he had fled on foot, they took the money which was in a glove compartment.

Mpumelelo Moyo (22), Solomon Harry (26), Enock Moyo (27), Victor Moyo (23), Arnold Mutikani, Panabuhle Dube (27), Petronela Mlilo (19) and Uranda Joice (35) all pleaded not guilty to a robbery charge.

State represantive Leonard Chile told the court that on November 23, 2019 in Khumalo, Bulawayo, the eight blocked Nkulumane resident Jephry Nyevhe (27)’s vehicle.

“The gang allegedly threatened to assault the complainant, prompting him to run away leaving his vehicle behind. They searched the vehicle and allegedly stole cash amounting to US$10 000 from the glove box in the dashboard. Nyevhe reported the matter to the police, leading to the arrest of the eight,” the prosecutor said.
