Covid-19: Zim records 47 deaths, 1112 new cases

A new record of Covid-19 fatalities has been set in Zimbabwe after 47 people succumbed to the respiratory disease in the last 24-hour cycle, taking the death toll to 636.

The country also witnessed a surge in new infections after 1112 cases were recorded yesterday, according to an update by the Ministry of Health and Child Care.

Mashonaland West province recorded 20 deaths while Harare recorded 10 fatalities and Manicaland recorded 7 deaths. , Bulawayo one,  

In Mashonaland East 5 people died while Mashonaland Central and Masvingo recorded 2 fatalties each and Bulawayo had 1 death.

“47 deaths and 1112 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours. The cumulative number of deaths is now 636. 1056 new recoveries were recorded, bringing the recovery rate to 58%. The country has a total of 10018 active cases,” read the statement.

To date, Zimbabwe has a total of 25368 cases, 636 deaths and 14714 recoveries.
