CITE launches Yithi Laba newsletter to preserve ZPRA history
The Centre for Innovation and Technology (CITE) is set to launch Yithi Laba, a subscriber-based quarterly newsletter, on November 29, 2024.
The publication is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Zimbabwe Peopleโs Revolutionary Army (ZPRA) and amplifying the stories of its veterans and their families.
CITE Director Zenzele Ndebele highlighted the importance of documenting the contributions of ZPRA to Zimbabweโs liberation struggle.
โYithi Laba is more than just a newsletter; itโs a platform to reflect on our past, educate the present, and inspire the future. By telling these stories, we ensure that the sacrifices and achievements of ZPRA remain alive in the national consciousness,โ he said.
The newsletter will feature personal narratives from veterans, historical analyses, photo galleries, and columns dedicated to missing ZPRA members and their familiesโ search for closure. It aims to provide a comprehensive perspective on ZPRAโs role in shaping Zimbabweโs history while fostering intergenerational dialogue.
Ndebele expressed hope that the publication will bridge gaps in understanding and appreciation of Zimbabweโs liberation history. โThereโs a lot that remains untold about ZPRA and its members. Through Yithi Laba, we aim to fill these gaps and give a voice to those whoโve been overlooked by mainstream narratives,โ he said.
Subscribers can expect the first issue to delve into untold stories of courage, resilience, and camaraderie among ZPRA veterans. โWe invite everyone to join us on this journey of remembrance and celebration,โ Ndebele added.
