Bulawayo man strangled to death in front of son

A Bulawayo man from Emganwini, Albert Tshuma (50), was tragically strangled to death in front of his son by a passenger they had offered a lift on Tuesday evening.
The incident, confirmed by the police, occurred around 9 PM and has been classified as a botched robbery.
Bulawayo provincial police acting spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said Tshuma and his son were driving home from the city centre when they decided to offer a lift to a man who later turned out to be an assailant.
โAfter they picked up the passenger, who sat in the back seat, a black BMW overtook their car after a short distance. The passenger then produced a gun and ordered them to follow the BMW,โ said Asst Insp Msebele.
The vehicle was driven approximately 2 kilometers to Randun Road, Upper Rangemore. A man exited the BMW and approached Tshuma and his son, who explained why they had stopped.
At that moment, the situation turned violent. The passenger in the back seat pulled a seatbelt around Tshumaโs neck, strangling him, while threatening his son with a gun and ordering him not to move.
โTshuma began producing froth and blood from his mouth as he grew weaker. The assailant searched his wallet, which contained only an ID and driverโs license, before fleeing back to the BMW. The suspects then drove off,โ said Asst Insp Msebele.
When emergency services arrived, Tshuma was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects and have urged motorists to avoid giving lifts to strangers to prevent such tragic incidents.
