BCC warns of water supply disruptions

The Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has warned of disruption in pumping and treatment of bulk water due to scheduled electricity maintenance works at its treatment plants.

This will lead to water supply disruptions.

In a statement, Saturday, acting Town Clerk Sikhangele Zhou said water supplies will be restored once full pumping and treatment resume.

โ€œThe City of Bulawayo would like to advise members of the public that there will be an interruption in water treatment and pumping on 1 October 2022 from 0600hrs to 1800hrs. This is as a result of scheduled Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission Distribution Company (ZETDC) maintenance works at Ncema Water Treatment Works and Fernhill Booster Pump Station,โ€ said Zhou.

Bulawayo which is grappling with perennial water shortages is currently on a tight 72-hour water shedding programme.

Last month the local authority was forced to decommission Umzingwane dam due to low water levels.
