Tshabangu executes more recalls, recalling 13 MPs and 9 Senators

While some recalled Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members in Bulawayo have begun campaigning for by-elections next month, the partyโ€™s interim Secretary General, Sengezo Tshabangu, has struck again, recalling 13 more legislators and nine senators.

The most recent recalls include Pelandaba-Tshabalala Member of Parliament (MP), Gift Ostallos Siziba, the CCCโ€™s deputy spokesperson and Mkoba North, Amos Chibaya, who was CCCโ€™s Chief Whip.

The other recalled legislators are Admore Chivero for Chegutu West, Stephen Chatiza of Goromonzi West, Tapfumanei Willard Madzimbamuto of Seke, Oliver Mutasa of Zvimba East, Linnet Mazingaidzo Harare, Emma Muzondiwa of Midlands PR, Machirairwa Magidho Masvingo PR, Constance Chihota Mashonaland East PR, Monica Mukwanda Manicaland PR, Sekai Mungani Midlands PR, constituency and Dephine Gutsa Mashonaland East PR.ย

The recalled senators are Webster Maondera of Harare, Jameson Timba of Harare, Editor Matamisa of Mashonaland West, Vongai Tome of Harare and Ralph Magunje of Mashonaland East.

โ€œKindly proceed with Section 129 (K) of the Constitution,โ€ Tshabangu wrote in letters dated November 7 and received by Parliament on November 10, 2023, to both the presiding officers of Parliament and the Senate.

Meanwhile, the recalled CCC MP for Cowdray Park Pashor Raphael Sibanda and dismissed Ward 6 councillor Nkosinathi Hove Mpofu resumed their door-to-door campaign on Tuesday.

Before launching the campaign, Sibanda told the party’s street champions that the ruling party is afraid of working with CCC MPs and councilors.

โ€œWe meet again as we head for a by-election. By now, I am sure you know there is someone who is being used by Zanu PF known as Tshabangu to recall councillors and MPs. Tshabangu is trying by all means (to destroy us) but we are also pushing because we (fighting him) in the courts and on the ground,โ€ Sibanda said.

โ€œI know people will ask you what is happening, the answer is simple, Zanu PF is scared of working with CCC councilors and MPs that is why we have been recalled yet people voted for us.โ€

The MP aspirant also urged the street champions to inform citizens to elect him and the ward councillor back to Parliament and Council respectively.

โ€œPeople voted for us, but we were recalled. Letโ€™s not forget that Zanu PF and those who call themselves CCC also have their candidates but our councilor is Nkosinathi Hove Mpofu. There is also a double candidate for an MP, but it is important to tell people to look for Pashor Sibanda on the ballot paper during the Election Day,โ€ Sibanda said.

The Ward 6 Councilor added that the partyโ€™s door to door campaign was targeting 1 000 households.

โ€œNo one doesnโ€™t know why they did these recalls, they did them so that they can get two thirds majority in Parliament, this is why they recalled our MP and us councilors so that they control the council and the people,โ€ said Mpofu.

Mpofu claimed that the recalled individuals are Nelson Chamisaโ€™s loyalists.

โ€œWe should tell people that these are the correct candidates and encourage them to vote on 9 December 2023,โ€ said Mpofu.
