I’m a servant of the people: Zanu PF candidate upbeat ahead of polls

ZANU-PF aspiring candidate for Ward 1, Tjankwa in Bulilima East, Kossam Ndlovu, says his passion for community development earned him a ticket to represent the ruling party in the upcoming by-election.

Bulilima district is set to have by-elections on 3 September to fill three vacant council seats which arose after the resignation of two Zanu-PF councillors, Tonny Mlotshwa and Ntungamili Dube and the death of Delani Mabhena who also belonged to the ruling party.

Speaking to CITE, Ndlovu said running for office was never in his plans.

“I think they noticed the developmental work that I was doing while working with the community. I was involved in different projects such as rehabilitation of our water supply dam, I was one of the committee members, at the moment I am the chairperson of Skhathini Clinic development project that we are busy with,” he said.

He said he joined the ruling party “as their vision, principles and mission is clear.”

Ndlovu said they are however concerned about the low turnout of the youths to register to vote.

“People registered in numbers but our challenge is with the young people, they seem not to prioritise voting as they don’t understand or see the need for it but we are busy fixing that,” he said.

He expressed concern at the low youth participation in elections saying they were working on ensuring that more young people register to vote.

Ndlovu will battle it out with Ephraim Moyo of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC).
