A Victoria Falls man will commit 410 hours of community service after he was found in possession of eleven crystal methamphetamine sachets.
This was heard when Lincoln Deluxe Nyakomba (29) of Mkhosana high density suburb appeared before Victoria Falls resident magistrate Linda Dzvene charged with possession of crystal methamphetamine.
According to state prosecutors, on June 22, police detectives from the Drugs and Narcotics department received a tip-off that Nyakomba was in possession of dangerous drugs at his place of residence.
Acting upon the information, the detectives paid a visit to his house and asked to conduct a search and they discovered four sachets of crystal methamphetamine in his kitchen unit.
They then proceeded to the bedroom and discovered seven more sachets of the same drug valued at ZWL$4 00
In court, Nyakomba denied being a drug peddler and admitted that he was using it for recreational purposes.
Dzvene handed him nine months imprisonment after considering that he was the first time offender, a family man and was ready to reform.
“However, the accused should be punished for his transgressions so you are therefore sentenced to nine months in prison which six months of them will be converted to 410 hours of community service at Victoria Falls police station and the other remaining three months are suspended on condition that the accused does not commit a similar offence.”
