Byo records one death, 10 new Covid-19 cases

Bulawayo has recorded one new Coronavirus related death and ten new cases in the past twenty-four hours, bringing the total number of cases to 1521 in the city. 

The country yesterday recorded a total of 19 new cases, an increase from 17 the previous day. 

Of the new cases, 18 are local transmissions while one is a returnee from Namibia. 

A statement from the Ministry of Health and Child Care issued Wednesday shows that six of the cases are from Mashonaland West, two from Mashonaland East and one is from Matabeleland North. 

“19 New Cases and 1 Death have been reported in the last 24 hours. The number of new cases rises to 19 today (Wednesday) from 17 yesterday (Tuesday),” read the statement. 

These statistics are results of 615 PCR tests which were conducted nationwide. 

Only eight new recoveries were recorded countrywide. 

“18 are local cases and 1 is a returnee from Namibia. The only death was reported by Bulawayo. There have been 8 new recoveries reported bringing the National Recovery rate to 94.8%. The total number of active cases has risen to 184,” the statement read. 

Zimbabwe currently has 8055 Covid-19 cases, 7640 recoveries and 231 deaths.
