The alleged MDC-T faction led by Vice President Thokozani Khupe says it is not against the MDC Alliance but is not in agreement with the formula used to allocate seats among the alliance members.
Speaking to CITE, MDC-T National Organising Secretary Abednico Bhebhe said the disagreements over the seat allocation in the alliance has resulted in orchestrated attacks targeting certain party leader within the party.
“The biggest question within the opposition is why those attacks are not spontaneous anywhere where there is an MDC function.
“It is always where there is a particular leadership that would have attended those functions and immediately when those leaders attend you see these sporadic attacks directed at those leaders,” said Bhebhe.
Bhebhe there are possibilities of infiltration into the party to cause disorder ahead of the elections later this year.
“Are we being infiltrated or some of our leadership are part of the Zanu PF establishment,” charged Bhebhe.
Bhebhe seemed to suggest some top leaders in the party were being used by the ruling party, Zanu PF, to destabilise the MDC Alliance ahead of the crucial polls.
He said it was a myth that there was a faction within the MDC-T which was against the opposition coalition
“In MDC, there is no one, including myself who does not want the alliance. When we are talking of an alliance it must be a give and take situation,” said Bhebhe.
“Unfortunately, within the MDC Alliance, there is a sticking issue that people are deliberately skirting, the issue of the allocation of seats.”
He said it was imperative that the alliance come up with the right formula for the allocation of seats so that the system does not prejudice some candidates who have done well in their respective constituencies.
