Woman found dead in the bush

By Promise Dube

The dead body of a woman was discovered approximately three kilometres from the Bekezela Business Center in Insiza South Ward 5, Mabuze village, along West Nicholson Road.

It is reported that two boys stopped at a bridge to sharpen their axes while on their way to collect firewood. Their dogs began acting strangely, prompting them to investigate, and they found the naked body of a dead woman.

Due to its state of decomposition, it is believed that the body had been there for a while.

Ward 5 Councillor Ngobe Masonga told CITE that he was informed of the incident and made a police report.

โ€œWe notified the police even though I was distributing maize from Social Welfare when I received the information,โ€ said Masonga.

โ€œTo prevent the body from being damaged by dogs or anything else until the police arrived to collect it, we assigned two village heads and other locals to protect it,โ€ the councillor continued.

Masonga added that although they do not know the identity of the woman, she may be from a distant location because many people use that route.

Contacted for comment, Matabeleland South Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Loveness Mangena confirmed the incident and urged those who may be missing a relative to visit Filabusi Police Station.
