Woman found dead in the bush

By Promise Dube

The dead body of a woman was discovered approximately three kilometres from the Bekezela Business Center in Insiza South Ward 5, Mabuze village, along West Nicholson Road.

It is reported that two boys stopped at a bridge to sharpen their axes while on their way to collect firewood. Their dogs began acting strangely, prompting them to investigate, and they found the naked body of a dead woman.

Due to its state of decomposition, it is believed that the body had been there for a while.

Ward 5 Councillor Ngobe Masonga told CITE that he was informed of the incident and made a police report.

“We notified the police even though I was distributing maize from Social Welfare when I received the information,” said Masonga.

“To prevent the body from being damaged by dogs or anything else until the police arrived to collect it, we assigned two village heads and other locals to protect it,” the councillor continued.

Masonga added that although they do not know the identity of the woman, she may be from a distant location because many people use that route.

Contacted for comment, Matabeleland South Provincial Police Spokesperson Inspector Loveness Mangena confirmed the incident and urged those who may be missing a relative to visit Filabusi Police Station.
