Founder of Victory Fellowship Church, Dr Kenneth Eric Haskins celebrated his 79th birthday at Ingutsheni Hospital in Bulawayo on Monday where he donate a variety of food consignments.
Haskins donated 105 bags of 10 kgs mealie meal, 20 cases of sugar beans, 10 boxes of Olivine cooking oil, 10 cases of peanut butter and two cases of sugar to Ingutsheni Hospital, whose 700 patients are in need of food.
Dr Haskins together with his wife Beaulah Haskins in 1983, founded Victory Fellowship Churches in Zimbabwe and in South Africa.
He currently leads six assemblies in Bulawayo alone, as well as 50 rural churches in three of Zimbabwe’s ten provinces.
In his address at Ingutsheni Hospital, Dr Haskins said everyone in the community needed a helping hand..
“You need me, I need you and someone out there needs us,” he said.
Also present at the celebration was councillor for Ward 5 Dumisani Nkomo who encouraged the business community to emulate Dr Haskins’ “kind gesture.”
“It is very rare for one to celebrate his birthday by doing such a kind gesture for the community. I encourage all business communities to do the same. Currently Ingutsheni is in need of at least 10 tonnes of mealie meal as there are currently over 700 patients as we speak,” he said.
“Ingutsheni is the only hospital of its kind in Zimbabwe and the donation done by Dr. Haskins is very commendable.”
