Victoria Falls administers 19K Covid-19 vaccine doses

By Judith Sibanda

At least 19 000 people have so far received their first doses of the Covid-19 vaccine in Victoria Falls with health officials now moving to administer the second doses.

According to the District Doctor Medical Officer Fungai Musinami, the city is targeting to vaccinate at least 25 000 eligible residents to ensure the international tourism destination was safe for visitors.

“We are excited to announce that our second vaccination cycle has just begun,” Musinami said.

“We would like to encourage the residents who received their first doses to come again in numbers so that by the end of this roll-out, most of our people would have been vaccinated as we try to open our tourism destination.”

Musinami urged residents to visit their original vaccination point for the second jab.

“For now, to our residents, we would like to advise them to please attend the same static site where you were originally vaccinated for your second vaccine dose,” he said.

“If you attended a mobile site, please go to Victoria Falls Hospital where your main records are held. Please do not miss this second vaccination, it is essential to activate your immunity levels.”

Musinami also encouraged residents to continue observing the Covid-19 guidelines even after being inoculated.

The vaccinations points include the Victoria Falls main hospital, clinics, lodges, schools, Victoria Falls International Airport, restaurants and Sprayview military camp and other public areas.
