Two more Bulawayo City councillors are expected to hand themselves over to the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) on Monday in connection with extortion allegations involving the city’s deputy mayor, Councillor Edwin Ndlovu, Councillor Ntandoyenkosi Ndlovu and former councillor Alderman Rodney Jele.
Lawyer Nqobani Sithole of Sithole Law Chambers, who represents the councillors, confirmed that his clients would report to ZACC later on Monday.
“I can confirm that my clients will be handing themselves over to ZACC later today. The charges against them are not yet clear. We hope to get more information when we get to ZACC,” Sithole said.
The three councillors were arrested over the weekend in a case linked to alleged extortion involving a 50-year hotel development lease.

ZACC alleges that the councillors sought US$52,000 from a local businessman to prevent the cancellation of a lease signed in March 2023.
The commission says they told the businessman that an unnamed rival investor was prepared to pay US$52,000 to have the lease cancelled and that he would have to match the amount to retain the lease.
The businessman reported the matter to ZACC, and a trap was set, leading to their arrest.
The councillors are expected to appear in court on Monday.
