A two-year-old child has died after falling into a large metal dish of boiling porridge , police have confirmed.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the tragic incident happened on 3 June in Nzovunde Village, Binga District, in Matabeleland North Province.
According to a police statement, the child had been left in the care of a grandmother who was brewing traditional beer when the toddler accidentally toppled into a dish containing hot porridge.
The child sustained severe burns and was rushed for medical attention but succumbed to the injuries the following day, on 4 June.
