Thrills and spills galore as car spinning event comes to town
Adrenaline junkies who are fascinated by car spinning and drifting are in for a treat on December 16, 2023, with local and regional spinners set to showcase their amazing skills.
The event will be held on the outskirts of Bulawayo, along Khami Road close to the Khami Prison.
The organisers, from Veezed Alignment Center, said the event, which will be action-packed and family-friendly, will showcase spinning and drifting performances by experienced drivers.
Mduduzi Ncube, popularly known as MaSeven, from Veezed, said spinning of cars is something that has been happening randomly in the city and people have been fascinated hence they decided to do it officially at a larger scale and in a safe environment.
โWe have a driver from Veezed, Mzoe. We canโt say he is the founder of the spinning culture in Bulawayo but he is one person who has really influenced it. He has taught a number of other drivers, both male and female,โ he said.
โThis upcoming event will be a showcase of such performances and some of the drivers that we will be having are Bernard, Shortbase, Vusa, and Sibahle among others. We will have more drivers from other parts of the country and some from neighbouring countries.โ
Ncube said the preparations are still ongoing and as the dates draw closer, they will announce the entrance fee and time.
โWe are still seized with preparations at the moment, getting the arena ready and building the cars to the required specifications. We modify the engines, and gearboxes, and align them so that they are fit for the event. Everything we do is here in-house,โ he said.
โOnce everything is in order we will communicate on the time of the event and the entrance charges. What we can assure you is this will be a family-friendly event with standard safety and security measures in place. It will be cooler box friendly too. We want people to have a good time.โ
For safety measures, Ncube said there will be a stage in the middle of the arena, that will be enclosed with a short wall, then there would be a barricade of tyres to keep people away from the stage.
He said there will be security to ensure that there will be no random spinning in the rest of the yard and that peopleโs cars are safe.
