Staunch Bosso fan faces eviction, appeals for help

Staunch Highlanders Football Club fan, Melusi Khumalo, and his family are on the brink of being evicted from their rented accommodation due to arrears in rentals and are appealing for financial assistance from well-wishers.

Khumalo, who is wheelchair-bound stays with his 53-year-old mother and seven other siblings at a house along Connaught Avenue and Fort Street in the Central Business District (CBD).

His mother, who was the breadwinner suffered a stroke in 2017 forcing her to leave her job.

In an interview with CITE, Khumalo revealed that they owe a total of US$1 600.

“We have been staying at the flat for more than 21 years. My mother suffered a stroke and she was the breadwinner, so we have no one to assist us now,” said Khumalo.

“No one is working at home, life is difficult, we can’t even afford to pay rent. I am appealing for anyone who can assist with money to pay rent.”

He said the owner of the building, Shabir Ahmed Moosa Sedat has threatened to evict them.

In a letter addressed to Zibusiso Ncube of Ncube and Partners who has been assisting the family, Seedat noted that he is owed rentals from March 2020.

Those willing to assist Melusi and his family can contact him on 0778 613 449.
