Over 200 Covid-19 cases reported in two consecutive days

Over 200 Zimbabweans have tested positive for Covid-19 in two consecutive days as infections keep rising in the country.

The country on Tuesday Wednesday recorded a total of 241 and 238 Covid-19 cases.

To date Zimbabwe as at 16 June 2021 has a cumulative 40 556 coronavirus cases including 1 640 deaths while recoveries stand at 37 075.

“Two hundred and thirty-eight (238) new cases (all local) and three (3) deaths [were] reported today (Wednesday),” said the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) Wednesday in its Covid-19 daily update.

“Seven-day rolling average for new cases rises to 160 today from 142 yesterday.”

Hotspots, MOHCC include Mhangura, Chinhoyi, Chidamoyo (Mashonaland West), Masvingo District, Chiredzi (Masvingo Province), Nkulumane, Emakhandeni and Northern suburbs (Bulawayo Metropolitan Province) and Mt Darwin (Mashonaland Central).

Of the three people who succumbed to the pandemic Wednesday, two are from Bulawayo and one from Harare.

Of the 238 cases recorded Wednesday, Mashonaland West leads with 105 while Masvingo is at 24 each, Harare 41, Bulawayo at 10, Mashonaland Central 18, Midlands 2, Mashonaland East 3, Matabeleland North 2 and Matabeleland South 18.

“As of 15 June 2021, at 1500 hours there were 96 hospitalised cases,” added MOHCC.”
