Byo parent appeals for help to send gifted child to school

A Bulawayo parent is appealing for assistance to help his academically gifted daughter, Lindokuhle Mgayo, who excelled in her grade seven examinations with seven units.

However, due to financial constraints, she is unable to secure a place in Form One.

Fourteen-year-old Lindokuhle, a former student at Babambeni Primary School, faces this barrier despite her impressive academic achievement.

Her father, Trevor Mgayo, recently secured a job as a security guard but cannot afford the USD$165 fees required for enrollment at the nearest school, Pumula High.

Mgayo, the primary caregiver for his three children following his wife’s relocation to South Africa, expressed his commitment to his daughter’s education despite his current financial limitations.

“I do not have money at the moment, but I am appealing for assistance to buy school uniforms and pay school fees for my child.”

Adding to the challenge, all three of Mgayo’s children lack birth certificates.

“Unfortunately, their mother is in South Africa and refuses to participate in obtaining the documents. However, I managed to secure an affidavit and police clearance for Lindokuhle to complete her grade seven exams,” he explained.
