Pedestrian fatally struck by vehicle

An elderly man from Entumbane was fatally struck by a car while attempting to cross the busy Luveve road near the Nguboyenja flyover.

Bulawayo Police Spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube said the 75 year old man died on the spot.

“There was a man who was driving due East along Luveve road at around 07: 30 hours in the morning and when he got to fly over, he hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road due South from the other lane and the pedestrian sustained some head injuries and he died on the spot,” he said.

Inspector Ncube said the deceased body was taken to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH).

He urged motorists to observe speed limits.

“The driver was arrested and being charged for negligence driving. We want to urge motorists to drive with due care and attention and to observe speed limits to avoid unnecessary loss of life,” he said.
