NAMA calls for entries
National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ), who are the organisers of the annual National Art Merit Awards (NAMA) have called on artists to submit entries for the 2020 edition.
The 19th edition of the premier arts awards will be held in Harare on February 29.
The call was made to production houses, studios, stables, galleries, organizations, associations, groups, artistes, monitors and/or the publics that have outstanding published work.
The NAMA disciplines that are adjudicated are dance, film, literary arts, theatre, music, visual arts, media and spoken word.
The deadline for submission is November 30, 2019.
โCouncil is happy to announce to all NAMA stakeholders that entries can also be submitted online and the link beingย https://bit.ly/2pCb7Ww. All entries must be accompanied by the artisteโs product(s),โ said NACZ deputy director Josiah Kusena
โThese could be in the form of videotapes, cassettes, flash drives, CDs, pictures or books.
โIndividuals submitting works for NAMA are encouraged to supply three sets of the particular works/production to assist adjudicators, except where the product is from the visual arts categoryโ.
Entry forms can be obtained from NACZ offices throughout the country, National Gallery of Zimbabwe and Murewa Culture Centre.
NAMA is the forum where NACZ recognizes outstanding achievements within the arts sector. By rewarding excelling artists, NAMA stimulates more interest in the arts and raises the profile of the same.
The awards are a means of encouraging creativity and excellence in the quality of the arts, making Zimbabwe a force to reckon with on the international arena.
