In yet another gruesome murder in Bulawayo, a man was yesterday found dead in Old Luveve suburb with his private parts ripped off and used condoms stashed in his jacket pockets.
The deceased who has since been identified as Farai Mazhindu was found lying facing downwards in a pool of blood a stone’s throw from the house where he was employed as a caretaker.
The owner of the house is said to be based in the United Kingdom.
“On 7 April 2021 at around 0700 hours, the informant, a female adult aged 24 years and unemployed who is also a neighbour to the now-deceased was at her place of residence when she was called by a group of school children that an unknown male adult was lying in a pool of blood on the grass opposite the informant’s place of residence. The informant made a report at ZRP Luveve,” said Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube.
“The deceased was half-naked with scorched brown trousers which were dropped to knee level. The deceased’s body had a swollen head with bruises on the left side of his forehead, bruises on his knees and elbows, private parts were ripped off, blood was oozing from the nose and ears.”
Inspector Ncube added that the deceased’s “blue jacket was found approximately 4 meters away from the body and it had bloodstains. Some used condoms were found at the scene in the deceased’s jacket pockets.”
“Drag marks approximately 10 meters were observed at the scene leading from the tarred road to where the body was found lying. Bloodstains were also seen on the tarred road.”
The body of the deceased was ferried to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) mortuary for a postmortem.
Inspector Ncube appealed to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact their nearest police station.
