Man rapes daughter

A 53-year-old widower from Bulawayo’s New Magwegwe suburb has been accused of allegedly raping his 15-year-old daughter.
A court heard that the man, whose name has been withheld to protect the identity of the minor, allegedly got his daughter pregnant, took her to a doctor to have the pregnancy terminated and further asked the doctor to inject the minor with depo-provera to prevent her from falling pregnant in the future.
Western commonage magistrate Lungile Ncube did not ask the man to plead to a rape charge. He remanded him in custody to June 6.

Prosecuting, Memory Ndlovu, told the court that the man has been sexually abusing his daughter since November 2016.
“Accused came home drunk and woke complainant who was sleeping with her young sister on the floor. He ordered her to sleep on the bed. Complainant refused to get on the bed but accused forcibly pushed her. He removed her panties and raped her without using protection. He ordered her not to tell anyone what had happened,” said Ndlovu.

She added, “He continued to abuse her until she fell pregnant in May 2017 sexually. Accused took complainant to one Dr Hove to illegally terminate the pregnancy. After the illegal termination accused asked Dr Hove to inject the complainant with depo-provera to prevent her from falling pregnant again.
“Accused raped the complainant again on March 27 ,2018 before sending her to her uncle’s place in the rural area for school holidays. Complainant narrated her ordeal to her uncle who then made a police report. Complainant was taken to Mpilo hospital for medical examination.
