A family in Nkulumane is desperate to track down a driver who hit a man and fled, changing his life forever.
Prior to the road accident just outside his family house in July last year, Thembani Mabhena was the breadwinner and took care of his family.
Now he is unable to walk and do any manual work to fend for his family.

Narrating his ordeal to CITE, Mabhena said the accident has left him crippled and efforts to locate the driver have not been fruitful.
โI was hit by a car near Munyoro just outside my home in Nkulumane and I was left crippled. I was admitted to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) and only got discharged on the 3rd of August,โ said Mabhena.
He said when the incident occurred, his mother managed to apprehend the driver and he promised to return the following morning.
โMy mother said they managed to intercept the driver as he tried to escape after committing the offence but they have never seen him since the day of the accident, he did not leave any contact details or returnedย the following morningย as he had promised,โ said Mabhena.
He added that the police are yet to conclude their investigations, a year after the incident.
โI am no longer able to walk, hence Iย have not been able to go to the police station to receive an update. I am no longer able to fend for myself and my children like I used to do; I donโt know what the future holds for my two children. As it is I owe the hospital $52 000, I donโt know where I will get it,โ said Mabhena.
โI was someone who used to assist my friends in offloading cross-border buses, trucks and could get a decent earning from that, but due to this accident I am no longer able to do all that.โ
Contacted for a comment, Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube said the case is still under investigation.
