Police in Bulawayo are investigating a murder case after a man was found dead in Cowdray Park on Sunday morning.
Bulawayo Deputy Police Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu confirmed the incident.
Asst Insp Ndlovu said police suspect that broken pieces of a beer bottle recovered at the scene may have been used to stab the man.
“Police in Bulawayo are investigating a case of murder which occurred in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo,” said Asst Insp Ndlovu.

She said the man was discovered at around 6.30am by a passerby who was walking along a footpath connecting Luveve 5 and Cowdray Park.
“When she reached an open space near the railway line, she saw the body of a male adult lying beside the footpath, facing downwards,” she said.
“Upon checking, she saw that the body had two deep cuts, one on the stomach and another under the left arm.”
Asst Insp Ndlovu said broken beer bottle pieces stained with blood were also found next to the body.
“Broken beer bottle pieces stained with blood were also seen beside the now deceased body and it is suspected that they were used to stab him,” she said.
The man had no signs of life when he was discovered, and a report was subsequently made to the police.
“The body was conveyed to United Bulawayo Hospitals mortuary for postmortem,” said Asst Insp Ndlovu.
Police have appealed to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect to come forward.
“We appeal to members of the public with information that may lead to the arrest of the accused person to come forward and report at any nearest police station,” she said.
Police also urged members of the public to exercise caution when walking in busy and poorly lit areas.
“We urge members of the public to avoid walking alone in busy and poorly lit areas as they put themselves at risk of being raped, robbed and murdered,” said Asst Insp Ndlovu.
