Man fatally stabbed in Cowdray Park, police launch probe

Police in Bulawayo are investigating a murder case in Cowdray Park suburb after a man was found dead by the roadside on Monday morning.

The man whose name and age could not be immediately established, had a stab wound on the chest.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.

Insp Ncube told CITE that no arrests had been made yet as investigations were still in progress.

“We are investigating a case of murder which happened on August 31. A man was found lying dead around 6 AM near caravan tuckshop. It was discovered that he had one stab wound in the chest. Police were called to the scene. The body was taken to Mpilo Central Hospital for post-mortem,” Insp Ncube said.

“Investigations are still being carried out to ascertain what really transpired. We are appealing to members of the public who may have information pertaining to the incident to assist the police.”

A CITE newscrew visited the area at which the body of the deceased was found and spoke to an eye witness (who spoke on condition of anonymity) who saw the body being taken away by the police.

“We are still in shock, it’s scary that such crimes happen in our midst. The man looked quite young. I did not know him personally but some people who were here earlier said he stays at houses close to this place. We need more police patrolling this area because we do not feel safe anymore,” the source said.

“Some members of the police came here soon after the body was taken away. They picked up three young men whom they alleged have information about what happened because they were seen with the deceased yesterday around 8PM.”
