Villagers in Nyamandlovu, Matabeleland North, have been left stunned following allegations that a 42-year-old man had sexual intercourse with two goats.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday in Square Village 8a, Igusi, under Chief Deli.
The owner of the goats, Medelinah Tshuma, 58, said she was woken at around 01:00 by the sound of distress from her livestock pen.
“I was awakened by the noise of bleating goats,” Tshuma told CITE. “I peeped through the window and saw a torchlight inside the goat pen, but I was afraid to come out or scream… as I thought it was thieves and they would kill me.”

When she checked the pen the following morning, all animals were present, but she discovered physical signs of abuse on one of her goats.
After spotting distinct footprints around the enclosure, Tshuma alerted her neighbours and Chief Deli.
The suspect was reportedly caught after joining a crowd that gathered with the chief at the scene. Villagers grew suspicious when his account of his whereabouts contradicted a statement given by his sibling.
Upon being questioned privately by local men, goat fur was discovered on his clothing. He then admitted to the act and identified the animals involved, Tshuma said. A second abused goat was subsequently identified.
The matter was reported to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) at the Igusi base. Police spokesperson for Matabeleland North, Inspector Glory Banda, could not be reached for comment.
Under Section 74 of Zimbabwe’s Criminal Law Act, bestiality carries a penalty of up to a year in prison, a fine, or both. The suspect’s identity is currently being withheld pending official confirmation from law enforcement.
