Hairdressers raise funds to assist a colleague with mental health problems

Friends stick together, in good and bad times.

This has been proven to be true by a group of hairdressers in Bulawayo who have launched a crowdfunding initiative to assist a colleague who has developed a mental health problem.

Zibusiso Mswe Ndlovu developed mental health problems in 2019 and his condition worsened in 2020 when he was admitted to Ingutsheni Hospital.

In an interview with CITE, one of the people behind the initiative,  Likhwa Ndlangamandla said due to his condition, Ndlovu is no longer able to fend for his family.

“We worked with him for a long time but now he has a mental problem and he is having difficulties supporting his family, he has a wife and children who are going to school,” said Ndlangamandla.

Ndlangamandla said they have created a WhatsApp group for people who want to assist.

“The situation is bad as he was surviving on hand to mouth and the wife is not working, its now difficult for them to put food on the table and to pay school fees. The eldest child is doing grade seven while the youngest is in ECD.”

Contacted for a comment, Ndlovu’s wife, Beauty Maposa confirmed that they are appealing for financial assistance.

“At the moment I can say that our main challenge is food and his medication, I struggle to raise money for his medication or even pay rent and send our children to school,” said Maposa.

Those willing to assist Ndlovu can deposit the money on the following account:  Beauty Maposa: 1018913042 Steward Bank: Bambanani Branch or use the EcoCash number 0787 144 512.
