Government warns local leaders against selling communal land

In today’s news bulletin: Zimbabwe’s Local Government Minister Daniel Garwe has warned village heads and councillors against the illegal sale of communal land and the growing encroachment onto wetlands. Authorities say some local leaders are bypassing official systems to allocate land for profit, raising concerns about governance and environmental protection. Meanwhile, Ugandan opposition leader Bobi Wine says he fled the country because he feared for his life following January’s disputed election. Wine alleges the vote was rigged in favour of long-time Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, who has been in power since 1986.
