Fire destroys dormitory at Matopo High School
A devastating fire broke out early Friday morning at Matopo High School, resulting in the complete destruction of the boys’ dormitory.
In a press statement, the school said 52 students were affected and there were no casualties.
“Fortunately, due to the swift actions of students and staff, all students managed to escape without injury.
The fire, which consumed 52 school trunks, beds, uniforms, and extra clothing, has left the dormitory in ruins. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Bulawayo City Council Fire Brigade and ZESA,” the school said.
The school assured parents that the safety and well-being of the learners remain the top priority, and that they were committed to implementing measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
