Elderly Gwanda villager seeks help to rebuild rain-destroyed home

An elderly villager from Nyandeni, Gwanda, is appealing for assistance to rebuild two structures at his homestead that were destroyed by rains in 2023.

Goliath Nyoni (73) of Village 7, Ward 4, lives with his wife and three minor grandchildren in a single remaining structure.

“I am appealing for assistance to build two additional structures at my homestead so that we may have better living conditions for my family. Our home was destroyed by rains in 2023, and since then, we have hoped to get assistance to rebuild but have not received any,” he said.

“We only have one structure left, which we all share, but it is very small. I am appealing for assistance in cash or in kind through building materials. The remaining structure is not strong either, and with the heavy rains falling now, I am worried it may also be destroyed. It already has cracks and leaks.”
