CITE scoops award

The Center for Innovation and Technology (CITE) was on Tuesday won the best online media award in the Matabeleland region for its consistent and accurate reporting on HIV/AIDS issues

The award was sponsored by the AIDS Health Foundation.

The other winners were Thandeka Moyo-Ndlovu from the Chronicle who won in the print category while Skyz Metro FM scooped the award in the electronic category.

In an interview, CITE Editor Lesley Moyo said the award is a testament to the hard work put in by the organisationโ€™s journalists in producing quality stories.

โ€œWe are elated as an organisation to receive this top award,โ€ he said.

โ€œThe award is a reward for the hard work that our team of journalists put in to produce stories that have an impact and make a meaningful contribution to the fight against HIV/AIDS.โ€

Media Monitors director, Patience Zirima, who was part of the adjudication committee said they were impressed by the high-quality stories produced by the award winners.

โ€œWhen we’re looking at the different sites, the different media, we looked at the journalists themselves who were writing but we were also looking at the media houses as well who were working on the different issues on HIV/AIDS and how well they were doing in reporting those issues. So the winners today were the ones who produced stories consistently throughout the year and who were able to produce high quality, informative articles,โ€ said Zirima.
