Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) national deputy spokesperson, Ostallos Siziba, says their party will forge ahead with its decision to disengage from all parliament and council sittings as they seek to resolve the issue of recalls.
The recalls were initiated by Sengezo Tshabangu, who claims to be the interim Secretary General of the opposition party.
Siziba reiterated the party stance while addressing a press conference in Harare on Wednesday.
Tshabangu recalled 15 CCC parliamentarians claiming they were imposed by party president Nelson Chamisa.
“We have made sure that our members disengage from the sittings of the parliament and local authorities but they continue to discharge their community duties and the political responsibilities bestowed upon them. But however, for the next fourteen days we are disengaging from the aforementioned sittings, after which we shall sit down and give a position in terms of moving forward,” Siziba said.
Siziba said the public must disregard any form of communication coming from Tshabangu purported to be from the party.
He said Tshabangu is an imposter who was planted and is enjoying the protection of the State from facing justice over his actions.
“We want to take this opportunity to put out a general notice to all Zimbabweans and the international community at large that any correspondence that you receive coming from any imposter called Tshabangu does not reflect the position of CCC. This applies to any correspondence that may be sent to the government or any other stakeholders from him, calling for any program or action does not reflect and represent CCC,” he said.
“We have an imposter in our midst who has stirred the issue of recalls. We reported him to the police but instead of being brought to book he is actually enjoying the protection of the State.”
