Can coronavirus be spread through farts?

Claim: some medical experts have claimed that farting could spread the Covid-19 disease

Verdict: Inconclusive
Information to date by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on Covid-19 findings has shown that the disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are transmitted when a person with Covid-19 coughs or exhales.
“These droplets land on objects and surfaces around the person. Other people then catch Covid-19 by touching these object or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose or mouth,” said WHO.
“People can also catch Covid-19 if they breathe in droplets from a person with Covid-19 who cough out or exhales droplets”.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) clarities on which body fluids can spread infection, CDC said  Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome  Coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2 RNA)  has been  detected in upper and lower respiratory  tract specimens, and SARS-CoV-2 virus has been isolated from upper respiratory tract specimens and bronchoalveolar.
While viable, infectious SARS- Cov has been isolated from respiratory tract specimens. It is not yet known whether other non-respiratory body fluids from an infected person including vomit, urine, breast milk, or semen can contain viable, infectious SARS-CoV-2.

In addition, CDC said even although Covid-19 has been detected in the feces of some patients diagnosed with Covid-19, it is still not known whether the virus in stool is infectious or not.
“The amount of virus released from the body (shed in stool, how long the virus in stool is infectious are not known. The risk of transmission of the virus that causes Covid-19 from the feces of an infected person is also not known”.

“There has been no confirmed fecal-oral transmission of Covid-19 to date”.
