Organisational Overview
The Cultural Information Trust is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Finance Assistant to work closely with the Zimbabwe team in the implementation of the ZMD project. The project supports local community radio stations, Civil Society Organisations, and media originations. ZMD is implemented in the southern part of the country’s four provinces that is Matabeleland South, Matabeleland North, Midlands, and Bulawayo. Funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), the project is now in its third and final year.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Reporting to the Finance & HR Manager, the Finance Assistant will work closely with the Zimbabwe project team in the implementation of the ZMD Project. Below are the specific functions of the position.

Support the finance team in the preparation and timely submission of Monthly Expenditure Report (MER).
Ensuring all payment vouchers are correctly coded, authorised and adequately supported prior to filing and scanning.
Maintain a proper and systematic filing system of all documents relating to the project.
Timely recording of transactions in accounting software (QuickBooks)
Assist in the disbursement of allowances/stipends to project participants and staff.
Support the programs staff and partners with logistics for training and other program activities ensuring that participants coming for program activities have been accommodated, reimbursed according to policies and procedures.
Make follow-ups with programs team on all outstanding and overdue advances.
Maintain a register of assets taken out by staff and assist in periodic counting and verification of all organisational assets.
Maintain office petty cash in line with organisational policies.
Any other duties assigned by Project Director.

QUALIFICATIONS
At least a Diploma in Accounting from a recognized institution or studying towards a professional course (ACCA, CIMA, CIS) or Degree in Accounting/Finance an added advantage.
At least 1-year relevant experience in an NGO environment
Knowledge of donor regulations and local statutes essential
Proficient in MS Office and an accounting software.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
