Call for consultants:Eco-Faith Community-Based Research Practices

Zimbabwe Christian Alliance is inviting applications from qualified and experienced consultants or firms to undertake two complementary assignments under its Faith-Based Community Resilience Project.

The project seeks to strengthen ecological sustainability, climate resilience, and community empowerment by leveraging faith systems and indigenous knowledge across Zimbabwe. Assignment: Eco-Faith Community-Based Research

The consultant/firm will conduct research to examine the relationship between faith, culture, and environmental practices, generating evidence to inform programming, advocacy, and training. The consultant/firm shall also document indigenous environmental knowledge and practices and produce accessible knowledge products.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct desk review and develop a research methodology and tools

Carry out Key Informant Interviews, Focus Group Discussions, and community consultations

Analyse how religious teachings and traditional beliefs influence environmental stewardship

Document practices such as:

o Wetland protection and restoration

o Conservation and biodiversity preservation

o Sustainable land and natural resource management

Deliverables:

3 Provincial Research Reports (Matabeleland, Masvingo, Mashonaland)

1 Synthesis Report

Training manuals/modules for faith hubs

500 printed booklets (in local languages, designed and print-ready)

7 short high-quality videos (one per district)

Compendium of indigenous ecological practices

Raw footage and final report

Duration

Each assignment is expected to be completed within 30 working days.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should demonstrate:

Postgraduate qualification in Development Studies, Environmental Studies, Theology, Anthropology, Media, or related fields

Minimum 7 years’ relevant experience in research, documentation, or media production

Proven experience in community-based work, faith-based programming, or indigenous knowledge systems

Strong skills in:

o Research, analysis, and report writing

o Video production, storytelling, and documentation

Ability to work with rural communities and produce materials in local languages
