Byo schools record new Covid-19 cases

The Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC)has attributed the slight increase of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country yesterday to the latest outbreak of the virus in schools in Bulawayo.

Of the 19 new cases recorded in the Country yesterday, 12 cases were from the schools in Bulawayo.

“Nineteen new cases (all local) and zero deaths reported today. (7 days rolling average* for new cases falls to 30 from31 (yesterday). 12 of these cases are from outbreaks in schools in Bulawayo province,” said MoHCC.

The other cases were recorded in Masvingo with three cases, Manicaland with two cases while Harare and Mashonaland East both reported one case each.

The Ministry added that of the 1 159 tests conducted yesterday, the positivity was 1.6 percent.

“Twenty-four new recoveries: National recovery rate rise to 96percent and active cases go down to 452.”

“As of today, Zimbabwe has recorded 133 187 cases, 128 050 recoveries, and 4 685deaths,” they said.

Meanwhile, 8 088 people received their first dose yesterday bringing cumulative for the first dose to 3 371 867 while 6 348 people received their second dose bringing cumulative for the second dose to 2 648 740 as at 1600hours.

“As of 06 November 2021, at 1500hours there were 25 hospitalised cases: three new admissions, seven asymptomatic, mild to moderate 10,  severe four and four in Intensive Care Units,” said the MoHCC
