Byo man commits suicide over alleged infidelity issues

A 31-year-old man from Bulawayo committed suicide by hanging himself, reportedly due to infidelity issues with his wife.

Bulawayo deputy provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, confirmed the incident.

She said the body of Melusi Ndebele was found hanging from a tree branch near a railway line in a bushy area in Richmond, Bulawayo, on Sunday morning.

โ€œPolice confirm the sudden death of Melusi Ndebele, a male adult aged 31, of Entumbane, Bulawayo, who hanged himself. On the 23rd of June 2024, at around 0830 hours, the body of a male adult was found hanging from a tree branch near a railway line in a bushy area in Richmond, Bulawayo,โ€ Assistant Insp Msebele said.

โ€œThe deceased was wearing a red t-shirt, black jacket, black socks, and grey jean trousers. He used a white coated electric wire to hang himself from a tree branch. The body was searched, and nothing was recovered from his pockets.โ€

Asst Insp Msebele said Ndebeleโ€™s brother learned through messages circulating on WhatsApp that his brother had committed suicide.

โ€œOn the same day, the deceasedโ€™s brother saw a message in a WhatsApp group indicating that someone had committed suicide in the Richmond area. He proceeded to the scene and, upon arrival, positively identified the deceased as his younger brother,โ€ she said.

โ€œHe revealed that his brother had threatened to take his own life after a misunderstanding with his wife over adultery issues. Members of the public are urged to seek counselling if they encounter problems, rather than resorting to taking their own lives.โ€
