Body of missing Mazwi villager found floating in Khami river

The body of the 46-year-old man from Mazwi village who was reported missing a week ago was retrieved from Khami river on Sunday.

Dumisani Tshuma went missing last week Sunday as he had gone fishing in the river.

Bulawayo Police Spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed to CITE that the body was found floating on the water by a local villager.

“His body was found floating by a certain woman aged 61 years who was going about her business,” said Inspector Ncube.

“She made a report and his body was found and sent to United Bulawayo Hospital.”

Meanwhile, a relative told this publication that they have been going to the river daily to search for him.

“Church members together with family and community members used to go to the river everyday from morning till sunset and sit by the bank waiting for his body to surface,” the relative said.

“His father came from Nkayi after hearing news of his missing son, he came on Saturday and Sunday he went to the river, he is the one who identified him yesterday,” she said.
